OMNI-Test Laboratories, Inc. (OMNI) started testing in 1979 specializing in air quality engineering and sampling methods research. OMNI was at the forefront of state and federal emissions standards development and, in 1982, began testing woodstoves for conformance with new safety and emissions standards.

In 1989, OMNI expanded its capabilities beyond wood-burning appliances and began testing fireplaces and room heaters fueled with natural gas, propane, oil, and wood pellets, as well as venting equipment and combustible material protectors.

OMNI continues to expand its testing facilities and now accommodates testing of many other indoor and outdoor appliances, and hearth accessories.
